Succesful Derby Season

Sweetsong's Wildfire Greta Had a very succesful derby season this spring and fall. Running in three trials Greta placed all three times earning two 2nd place finishes and one 1st place finish. We will spend the rest of the fall hunting and getting ready for the gun dog stakes this spring.

Trial not to be
Greta and I were all set to run in the derby stakes at the Lake Superior Pointing Dog Club field trial on May 5th & 6th but Greta had other plans. Greta came into season a week prior sho we will need to put the trialing on hold for a few weeks. Our next trial will be the Minnesota Brittney Club trial on June 2nd & 3rd.

Greta and I participated in the German shorthaired pointer Club of Minnesota's Walking Trial the weekend of April 14th - 15th. Greta did a fantastic job with good froward run and 4 finds. She finished 2nd in the derby stakes. Not bad for her first trial.

All the puppies have been placed with their family! We have decided to keep one of the females. Gretta is already getting spoiled by my wife and kids. I am looking forward to training Gretta and getting her ready to run in some American Field and AKC Field Trial. But mostly just looking forward to the many hunting trips we will make together. I am going to try and document our training progress on my BLOG and I hope many of you will return to see and hear how things are going.

All but one are placed in their new homes with loving families. Hemi is still with us but will be going to Texas on Sat. to meet his new family. Greta is the pick of the litter and we have not decided if we want to place her with another family or if we want to keep her with us. We have become very attached to her!!. All but two of the pups are sold. Three have gone to wonderful homes where they will be loving members of the family and soon will be making their new owners proud out in the filed and at home. Three others will be joining their new family at the end of this week. Male pup # 2 and Female pup # 2 are still waiting to be placed in that special family that will love them as mush as we do! The pups are now sight pointing and retrieving a pheasant wing to hand.

We have the pups out in the yard running with the kids (Madelynn, Noah and Emily)a couple time a day. I don't know for sure who's having more fun the kids or the pups. The pups are all weaned and will be getting their first round of shots at the end of this week. Each of the pups are developing their own personalities and are getting cuter everyday. And one day will be the great family, hunting and or trial dogs that Jack and Annie are.

Annie's puppies are 25 days old today and busy exploring their surroundings. They are eating very well and FAST. I teach & coach 3 sports (Cross Country, Basketball & Track) at ACGC High School so I'm a stats kinda guy. I was looking over the pedigree of this litter and found some things of interest. In 6 generations this litter has the following: 76 FC, 30 AFC, 11 DC, 16 NFC, 16 CH & 32 Hall of Fame dogs. I put some new pictures on the tripod photo album.
